What people of Tromso don't do

Chasing Northern Lights

Most of the inhabitants have grown up with the Northern Lights in the sky every autumn and winter. For those who live in the city, it is therefore not a big deal - you can see the Northern Lights often throughout the winter months. And if you haven't lived here for more than a winter or two, the interest in the novelty is often over after the first winter.

But of course; Tromso people think the Northern Lights are great and many take spectacular photos and post on social media throughout the season.

But few people go in search of the Northern Lights.

Go on scooter safari

Not many people do this activity either. Tromso has no trails for scooters, so you have to go outside the municipality. Those who are interested usually buy their own scooter and go to places where there are trails. These include Storfjord and KÃ¥fjord in Nord-Troms and Kilpisjarvi in â€‹â€‹Finland.

Very few Tromso residents go to Tamokdalen in Balsfjord to join a scooter safari.

Looking for reindeer

Just over the bridge to Kvaloya, that is, on Kvaloya, you can often see reindeer in people's gardens, they wander in the fields or are about to be hit by cars. So reindeer are common to see on Kvaloya outside Tromso, especially in the summer.

Go on a dog sled trip

Some Tromso residents may decide to go to HÃ¥koybotn on Kvaloya to join a dog sledding trip. It is a bit spectacular and there is a lot of excitement when dozens of dogs want to join the trip.

What do the people of Tromso do then?

A lot of things, for example, they take the bus to get to the mountain lift, also known as Cable Car.
